Sri Lankan senior official dies at Yemen meeting

SANA'A, June 24 (Saba) – Head of the Sri Lankan delegation
participating in the 11th meeting of senior officers from the member
states of the Indian Ocean Rim Association for Regional Cooperation
(IOR-ARC) has died at a Yemen hotel.

"We are very sorry about the death of our colleague and have nothing
to say….but 'our hearts go out to the family of the departed and all
the Sri Lankan people'," said Yemeni Deputy Foreign Minister,
chairman of the session, Mohyee al-Din al-Dhabbi at the opening of
the second day meeting.

Mohammed Marleen Abdul Majeed, who was also the Sri Lankan
ambassador to Saudi Arabia, died in his room in the hotel after
midnight on Tuesday, al-Dhabbi said.
