'Bahrain role model for human harmony, fraternity'

Manama, Feb. 3 (BNA): Dr. Shaikh Abdulla bin Ahmed Al Khalifa, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the King Hamad Global Centre for Peaceful Coexistence, has affirmed that under the leadership of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, and the follow-up of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, Bahrain has established a unique and pioneering model of human harmony and fraternity, and set a global reference for nations and peoples seeking peace and coexistence.
In a statement marking the International Day of Human Fraternity, observed globally every February 4, Dr. Shaikh Abdulla bin Ahmed asserted that spreading the values of goodness and love, preserving religious freedoms, and promoting coexistence, without division or discrimination, are among the national fundamentals, as well as the basic pillars of HM the King’s comprehensive development process.
He indicated that this global occasion provides an opportunity to highlight the kingdom’s cultural heritage, within the framework of a cohesive society in which harmony, affection and unity among all segments and sects prevail.
He pointed out that the Kingdom had contributed to the adoption of this international occasion, in cooperation with brotherly and friendly countries, in recognition of the importance of respecting religious and cultural diversity, highlighting Bahrain’s initiatives in this regard, including the establishment of the King Hamad Global Centre for Peaceful Coexistence, and the inauguration of the “King Hamad Award for Peaceful Coexistence,” in addition to the role of the Royal Humanitarian Foundation in providing relief aid to afflicted peoples.
Dr. Shaikh Abdulla bin Ahmed emphasised the close connection between the “Kingdom of Bahrain Declaration” and the “Document on Human Fraternity”, as both agree that spiritual values are the bridge to true peace.
He also highlighted the kingdom’s hosting of the “Bahrain Dialogue Forum: East and West for Human Coexistence", during the visit of His Holiness Pope Francis and His Eminence Dr. Ahmed Al Tayeb, Shaikh of Al Azhar Al Sharif, to Bahrain, which was an initiative aimed at strengthening inter-faith solidarity and rapprochement.
He stressed that amid the ongoing conflicts, acts of violence, and calls for intolerance and racism, the world is in dire need of disseminating the Bahraini model based on strengthening the one-family spirit, respecting others, and accepting cultural pluralism, in a way that guarantees the well-being and happiness of all humanity.
He affirmed that the message of the King Hamad Global Centre for Peaceful Coexistence stems from a deep awareness of the meaning and importance of human fraternity in achieving peace and progress, as well as in contributing to stopping the cycle of violence and rejecting hatred.
He called on the international community to join hands and establish human fraternity, as a concept, a value and a virtue for a more secure, peaceful and stable world.
