Finance Minister chairs Arab Fiscal Forum panel discussion

Dubai, Feb. 11 (BNA): Shaikh Salman bin Khalifa Al Khalifa, the Minister of Finance and National Economy, today chaired the second panel discussion of the eighth Arab Fiscal Forum.

The forum, opened today by Mohammed Hadi Al Hussaini, the Minister of State for Financial Affairs, is a collaboration between the Arab Monetary Fund (AMF) and the International Monetary Fund (IMF).

It was attended by Dr. Fahad Mohammed Alturki, the Director General and Chairperson of the AMF Board; Kristalina Georgieva, IMF Managing Director; and Arab finance ministers and central bank governors.

The minister underscored the importance of continuing to introduce reforms and creative solutions that contribute to creating a balance between the economy and the environment, while working to achieve sustainability and strengthening social safety nets.

He highlighted the role of the annual Arab Fiscal Forum as a key platform for discussions and the exchange of views and expertise regarding economic and development topics in the Arab world.

Shaikh Salman bin Khalifa thanked the United Arab Emirates for hosting the forum, and the AMF and IMF for their efforts in organising the meeting, which was held within the framework of the World Government Summit.

The forum discussed a range of topics related to economic developments in the Arab world, structural solutions to support growth, energy subsidy reforms, social safety nets and supporting the transition to green economy.
