Saudi Media Forum Tackles Combatting Hate Speech in Media

Riyadh, February 2024, SPA -- A workshop titled “Combatting Hate Speech in the Media” was held today at the 3rd edition of the Saudi Media Forum.
The workshop discussed the media role in shaping societal interactions, and focused on addressing hate speech and incitement to violence.
King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz International Centre for Interreligious and Intercultural Dialogue (KAICIID) Capacity Building Officer in the Arab Region Maya Sukkar emphasized the negative impact of using media to defend political interests or spread harmful stereotypes, and highlighted the importance of fostering dialogue between religions and cultures to prevent hate speech and violence.
Sukkar also emphasized the crucial role of religious leaders in working with governments to denounce extremism and violence.
