Justice Minister meets UK officials

London, Feb. 20 (BNA): A delegation from the Ministry of Justice Islamic Affairs and Endowments, headed by Nawaf bin Mohammad Al-Maawda, the Minister of Justice, Islamic Affairs and Endowments visited the United Kingdom to discuss enhancing cooperation in the judicial field.

 

Al Maawda met with Michael Whitney Freer, the Parliamentary Under Secretary of State for the Ministry of Justice.

 

He commended the strength of the historical friendship between Bahrain and the United Kingdom and the continued progress in all fields.

 

The meeting reviewed bilateral cooperation programmes and opportunities to exchange expertise on modern practices in the judicial field.

 

Al Maawda also met with Robin Knowles, Judge of the Commercial Court, and several officials.

 

The minister was briefed on commercial litigation proceedings, particularly bankruptcy cases, and visited London's commercial courts to observe the facilities offered to litigants.

 

Al Maawda met with Daniel Fleury, the Director of the Criminal Program at the Courts of England and Wales. The two sides reviewed cooperation in developing the judicial system in civil, commercial, and criminal courts.

 

The minister was briefed on British courts' development projects and digital transformation and artificial intelligence applications in judicial services, focusing on electronic court systems, Ethereum session transfer, and the Common Platform system for unified judicial services centers.

 

Al Maawda also met Dean Beale, appointed Chief Executive of the Insolvency Service. The two sides discussed resturcturing and bankruptcy services, implementation procedures, the private sector's role, and the mechanism for selecting insolvency trustees.
