Speaker hails strong Bahrain-Azerbaijan relations, cooperation

Baku, Feb. 21 (BNA): Ahmed bin Salman Al Musallam, Speaker of the Council of Representatives, Chairman of the Executive Committee of the Parliamentary Delegation, has affirmed Bahrain's commitment to further developing its relations and cooperation with Azerbaijan across all fields, in light of the care of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and His Excellency President Ilham Aliyev of Azerbaijan, as well as the support of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister.
Speaker Al Musallam made the statements during the joint parliamentary talks, held at the headquarters of the National Assembly of Azerbaijan, Baku.
Co-chaired by Speaker Al Musallim and Dr. Sahiba Gafarova, Speaker of the National Assembly of Azerbaijan, Chairperson of the Non-Aligned Movement Parliamentary Network, the meeting discussed means to enhance relations between Bahrain and Azerbaijan.
Al Musallam extended congratulations to President Ilham Aliyev on his reelection for a new term.
Speaker Al Musallim commended the progress of bilateral relations, stressing that Bahrain welcomes economic investments, increased trade exchange, food security projects, industrial cooperation, and tourism with Azerbaijan.
He also affirmed parliamentary support for activating the signed agreements and expanding comprehensive cooperation, noting that he looks forward to broadening joint parliamentary collaboration to achieve shared aspirations and interests.
Al Musallam valued highly Speaker Gafarova’s efforts in supporting humanitarian causes, notably the Palestinian issue.
He invited Speaker Dr. Gafarova to visit Bahrain in order to sign a memorandum of understanding for parliamentary cooperation, as well as strengthen collaboration between the Council of Representatives and the Shura Council in Bahrain.
Speaker Gafarova praised the distinguished relations between Azerbaijan and Bahrain, hailing the two countries' mutual interest in developing cooperation across various domains.
She commended Bahrain's civilisational achievements, distinguished regional and international status, and comprehensive development process, spearheaded by HM the King.
She also acknowledged Bahrain's efforts in promoting values of tolerance and peaceful coexistence, as well as supporting regional cooperation for sustainable development in Asia.
Dr. Gafarova expressed Azerbaijan's aspiration to further enhance trade, investment, developmental, and touristic cooperation with Bahrain.
She affirmed parliamentary support to reinforce cooperation with the private sector in achieving mutual interests.
