Bahrain’s parliamentary delegation participates in World Trade Organization Parliamentary Conference

Manama, Feb. 23 (BNA): Led by MP Abdulnabi Salman Ahmed, First Deputy Speaker of the Council of Representatives, the parliamentary delegation of the Kingdom of Bahrain is participating in the proceedings of the " Parliamentary Conference on the World Trade Organization (WTO)," scheduled to take place in Abu Dhabi, the capital of the United Arab Emirates, on February 25.

The delegation includes members Redha Abdulla Faraj and Dr. Bassam Ismail Al Binmohammed from the Shura Council's Financial and Economic Affairs Committee, and MP Abdullah Hassan Al Dhaen from the Financial and Economic Affairs Committee of the Council of Representatives.

The conference, jointly organised by the Inter-Parliamentary Union and the European Parliament in cooperation with the Federal National Council of the United Arab Emirates, aims to strengthen common parliamentary action on international trade, and enhancing transparency and accountability in the global trade system through the promotion of a multi-party trading system that serves all.

The conference allows parliamentarians the opportunity to obtain direct information on the progress made from the 12th Ministerial Conference (MC12) to the 13th Ministerial Conference (MC13) of the World Trade Organization, interact with government negotiators and WTO officials, exchange opinions and experiences with colleagues in other parliaments, and identify ways to work at both national and international levels.

The conference agenda includes participation in interactive discussions focusing on objective issues related to trade and climate change under the theme "Profitable Interaction for All," as well as a special session on "Digital Trade in the Era of Flexible Economies," preceding the adoption of the conference's final document.
