Two-state solution only way to resolve Palestinian-Israeli conflict: FM

Genève, Feb. 26 (BNA): Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashed Al Zayani, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, participated in a high-level meeting organised by the State of Palestine in cooperation with the Arab-Islamic Ministerial Committee at the headquarters of the International Human Rights Council in Genève.

The meeting was headed by Riad Al Maliki, the Palestinian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates. Dr. Al Zayani affirmed that the two-state solution was the only solution for the Palestinian-Israeli conflict and achieving a fair and inclusive peace in the region.

He said that the establishment of the State of Palestine would signify a transformative triumph for the people of the region that paves the way for enduring peace and security.

He called for concerted efforts to achieve the two-state solution, that would uphold the rights and interests of all involved parties and builds a future of peace, justice, and prosperity.

The minister expressed Bahrain's deep concern regarding the catastropic situation in Gaza, with the loss of life, injuries, forced displacement, and a humanitarian crisis depriving hundreds of thousands of civilians- including vulnerable groups like women, children, and the elderly- of essential services such as healthcare, water, and food.

He said that the widespread denial of fundamental rights neccessitated an immediate and assertive action from the international community.

He said that it was critically important that Israel took immediate steps to halt aggression, protect civilians, and guarantee their access to essential resources and basic requirements.

He added that the dire circumstances in Gaza underscore why Arab nations and the majority of global states advocated for the two-state solution as the sole means to establish a lasting resolution to the conflict.

Highlighting its alignment with the Arab Peace Initiative and international legitimacy resolutions, he affirmed that this solution stands as the singular path capable of realizing genuine peace, security, prosperity, and justice for all involved parties.

The Minister highlighted that the dire situation in Gaza underscores the global advocacy for the two-state solution as the essential path to a sustainable resolution.

He said that it aligned with the Arab Peace Initiative and international legitimacy, and that it was the only viable approach to achieve genuine peace, security, prosperity, and justice for all parties involved.
