Foreign Affairs Minister meets UN Human Rights High Commissioner

Geneva, Feb. 27 (BNA): Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashed Al Zayani, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, met Volker Türk, the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights, on the sidelines of the 55th session of the Human Rights Council.

The two sides discussed areas of cooperation between the Foreign Affairs Ministry and the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) in fields related to human rights protection. They also reviewed Bahrain's pioneering achievements across various sectors.

The two parties also discussed regional and international developments, especially the protection of the rights of the Palestinian people amidst challenging conditions in the West Bank and Gaza Strip.

They also stressed support for efforts to halt conflict in Gaza, safeguard civilians, and provide essential humanitarian aid to alleviate their suffering.
