EWA, UAE Etihad ESCO review cooperation

Manama, Feb. 27 (BNA): Kamal bin Ahmed Mohammed, President of the Electricity and Water Authority (EWA), received Abdulnasser Abbas, Senior Director, Treasury at Dubai Electricity and Water Authority, Member of the Board of Directors of Etihad Energy Services Company (Etihad ESCO). Dr. Waleed Alnuaimi, CEO of Etihad ESCO, attended the meeting.

 

EWA President reiterated the authority's commitment to energy conservation and resource preservation through implementing plans and best practices.

 

He discussed the implementation of programme "Kafa’a" to reduce electricity consumption in high-consumption buildings. The programme involves collaboration with energy service companies and private sector support.

 

EWA President highlighted the opportunity to learn from the UAE's Etihad Energy efficiency company about their sustainability solutions, clean energy utilization, and financing mechanisms for projects, aiming to enhance cooperation and development on both sides.

 

He highlighted the significance of energy service companies in achieving Bahrain's resource conservation goals and environmental sustainability.

 

EWA President emphasised the kingdom's commitment to fulfilling international obligations for carbon neutrality by 2060 through energy efficiency initiatives and investments.

 

EWA reported that it had successfully completed the implementation of a pilot project to improve energy efficiency in four government facilities, reducing annual energy consumption by 41%. Bill reduction reached 39%, and CO₂ emissions decreased by 5,430 tons.
