Ambassador to US participates in International Declaration on Responsible Military AI Use and Autonomy

Washington, Mar. 21 (BNA): Shaikh Abdulla bin Rashid Al Khalifa, Bahrain’s Ambassador to the United States, has participated in the opening plenary session of the Political Declaration on Responsible Military Use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Autonomy, in the presence of participants from 54 countries.

Addressing the session, Ambassador Al Khalifa noted that the kingdom had joined the signatory countries of the declaration in January 2024, emphasising Bahrain's commitment to enhancing international cooperation as a key to addressing contemporary global challenges. He highlighted Bahrain's support for the principles outlined in the declaration, reaffirming its commitment to collaborating with international partners to promote safety and guide an ethical development of AI.

The ambassador underscored the importance of proactively managing risks associated with AI and ensuring full compliance with international legal obligations, recognising the significant digital progress AI represents and its potential impact on military operations.
