TOUGH RESPONSE FROM TOP AZERI PARLIAMENT OFFICIAL TO ARMENIA`S NATO REPRESENTATIVE
Astana, June 26 (AzerTAc). Armenia became a hostage of its own aggressive policy, said First Vice Chairman of the Azerbaijani Parliament Ziyafat Asgarov in response to remarks by Armenia`s representative to NATO at the 3rd Forum of Euro-Atlantic Partnership Council Security.
Asgarov`s tough respond came after the Armenian official said “unfortunately, our country is not involved in oil and gas projects in the region, and we would like to be part of these projects”.
Asgarov, who also heads the Parliament`s Standing Commission on Security and Defense, was fast to react, saying “it is Armenia itself to blame for its remaining completely aloof from the regional projects”.
“You are an aggressor country. Do release our lands, do give up aggression, and only then we can discuss the possibility of cooperation with you,” Asgarov said.
The forum discussed the situation in Afghanistan and the role of its neighbors, energy security and common security issues in Central Asia and Caucasus, cooperation in the Black Sea region and the state of human rights.
“Other speakers, including Deputy Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources of Kazakhstan Aset Magauov and US political analyst Zeyno Baran praised Azerbaijan`s role in ensuring the European energy security.
Turkey`s representative to NATO Unal Cevikgoz said “Turkey will not hold any diplomatic negotiations with Armenia, until the Armenia-Azerbaijan dispute is solved”.
