KSrelief’s Assistant Supervisor Meets with Japanese Special Envoy for Middle East Peace

Riyadh, April 01, 2024, SPA -- Assistant Supervisor General of the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center (KSrelief) for Operations and Programs, Eng. Ahmed bin Ali Al-Bayez, met on Sunday at the center's headquarters in Riyadh with the Japanese Special Envoy for Middle East Peace, Tsukasa Uemura.
During the meeting, both sides discussed topics of mutual interest related to humanitarian and relief affairs.
Al-Bayez reviewed the humanitarian and relief efforts provided by the Kingdom through its humanitarian arm, KSrelief, to the Palestinian people in Gaza. Since the start of the humanitarian crisis in Gaza, the Kingdom's leadership has directed the organization of a popular campaign through the "Sahem" platform to provide relief to the Palestinian people in Gaza.
He indicated that so far, 44 relief flights have been operated, carrying various relief supplies including medical supplies, food, and shelter materials weighing over 829 tons. He added that 20 ambulances containing essential medical equipment have been delivered. Furthermore, he said, a maritime bridge has been established with 6 relief ships carrying medical, shelter, and food supplies weighing 4,966 tons.
This brings the total relief delivered through both air and sea bridges to over 5,795 tons, he noted.
Al-Bayez also noted that as part of these efforts, KSrelief has signed four cooperation agreements with the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA), the World Health Organization (WHO), the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), and the World Food Programme (WFP) to provide relief to the Palestinian people in Gaza, with a total value of SAR150 million. Additionally, another memorandum was signed with UNRWA, providing financial support of $40 million to support UNRWA's emergency appeal in Gaza, he said.
