Interior minister opens exhibition on risks of drugs
SANA'A, June 27 (Saba)-Minister of Interior Rashad al-Masri opened on Saturday an
exhibition on risks of drugs to spread awareness among society about impacts of
these drugs.
The exhibition comes within activities to mark 26th June -the UN's International Day
Against Drug Abuse, like other world countries.
Director of department of combating drugs at ministry of interior Khaled al-Radi
told Saba that an exhibition includes pictures which enhance knowledge of society
about dangers of these drugs. Al-Radi pointed out that the drugs were considered as
security, political, economic ands social threats, saying that Yemen became as
outlet for smuggling drugs to neighboring countries.
He also called on the media means to highlight this issue and raise awareness among
the society to combat drugs.
Al-Radi added that 372 cases of drugs have been since 2006 and 677 persons involved
in these cases.
During the first half of 2009, police seized around 26 tons of Hashish and 13
million capsules of drugs, he said.
