Centenarians Grow in Number in DPRK

Pyongyang, May 6 (KCNA) -- The number of centenarians is on the steady increase in the DPRK under the policies of the Workers' Party of Korea and the state which regard it as the most important thing to promote the people's health and well-being.
The respected Comrade Kim Jong Un sent birthday spreads to Rim Chang Ryong, a man centenarian living in the people's neighborhood unit No. 12 of Sonchang-dong, Waudo District of Nampho Municipality, and Jo Kum Som, a woman centenarian living in the people's neighborhood unit No. 68 of Sangyang-ri of Pakchon County, North Phyongan Province, on their 100th birthdays.
After receiving birthday spreads amid the congratulations of officials of the Waudo District and the Pakchon County party committees, families, relatives and neighbors, those centenarians expressed deep thanks to Kim Jong Un.
Rim Chang Ryong, who had lived under all sorts of maltreatment and contempt, keenly feeling the sorrow of statelessness before the liberation of Korea, was honored to receive a citation of President Kim Il Sung for having devoted himself to building a new country after the liberation of Korea and fulfilled his responsibility and duty as an agricultural official.
Jo Kum Som made a contribution to filling the granary of the country with pure conscience for decades with a resolve to repay the benevolence of the country which brought her worthwhile life into full bloom. She also worked hard to do good things for the society and the collective even after becoming a pensioner.
The centenarians with many children always ask the younger generation to do more work for the benevolent Party and country, saying that the socialist system in the DPRK is the best in the world. -0-
