Biggest Dialysis Center at world level to come up in Jeddah



Riyadh, June 28, SPA -- The Assistant Minister of Petroleum and
Mineral Resources, Prince Abdulaziz bin Salman bin Abdulaziz and
Minister of Health Dr Abdullah Al-Rabee'a signed today a contract for
implementing the project of Prince Abdul-Majeed bin Abdulaziz Center
for Kidneys at the Jeddah-based King Fahd hospital.

Prince Abdulaziz bin Salman is also serving as the Supervisor
General of Prince Fahd bin Salman charitable society for the care of
patients of the Kidney failure.

The contract was awarded to Majd-al-ola contracting establishment.

Speaking on the occasion, Prince Abdulaziz bin Salman said the
Center due to be implemented within about 18 months will be the
biggest kidney-washing (Dialysis) Center at the world level.

He noted that the Center, due to be implemented at a cost of SR 60
million, will include 140 devices for kidney-washing.

The Center will be capable of extending services to more than 800
patients of the kidney-failure.

The project will be implemented by donations from some
philanthropists.

As many as 17 consultants, 34 resident-physicians and specialists in
addition to 280 nurses will be working at the three-storey Center
which will be set up on an estimated area of 10,000 square meters.

The center with a capacity of 140 renal devices, will have
independent units for patients of special cases as well as
out-patient clinics.

It will train the patients on using the renal devices at their
residences.

Prince Abdulaziz bin Salman thanked donors for the establishment of
the Center notably the late Waheeb bin Zaqr, Khalid Jaffali, Nasser
Al-Rasheed, Omran al-Omran, Emad al-Miheidib, Abdulrahman Al-Jomiah,
Salih binladen, and Abdulrahman al-Rajihi.

On his part, Dr al-Rabee'a expressed appreciation for Prince Ahmad
bin Salman charitable society and all businessmen who have
contributed to the implementation of the project.

He noted that the health ministry will coordinate with the medical
cadres for the operation of this center.

It is an integrated center for supporting services, he said, noting
that the health ministry will recruit national medical cadres notably
after the unification the salaries of the medical cadres.

The trend of the health ministry is to give priority to the
preventive measures rather than the medical treatment, he said.
