Yemeni-Syrian Joint Committee meetings kick off
DAMASCUS, June 28 (Saba) - The 9th round of the higher Yemeni-Syrian
Joint Committee has kicked off in the Syrian capital Damascus
co-chaired by Yemen's Prime Minister Ali Mujawar and his Syrian
counterpart Mohammed Naji Otri.
For two days, the committee will discuss cooperation issues between
the two brotherly countries and means of strengthening and
developing them, in particular in the fields of policy, economy,
investment, culture, society, transport, education, tourism, media,
industry, electricity, power, fishers wealth and sport.
The two sides will deal with the latest developments in regional and
international of the common interest.
During the opening of the meeting, Mujawar affirmed the need to
develop and improve the cooperation relations between the two
countries in order to serve their common interests and enhance the
Arab unity.
The Yemeni official brought up the steps of implementing the 8th
round which held in May 2008 in Sana'a, including a Yemeni-Syrian
investment meeting which held in Syria last year, Yemeni-Syrian
talks within the free zone's activities, Yemeni-Syrian talks in
insurances field which held in Damascus and the first technical
meeting of the two countries in technical education and vocational
training fields.
He indicated the importance of signing a minute about Yemen's
sharing to establish a Yemeni-Syrian-Jordanian corporation for
marine transport and how to activate the joint corporation
activities to serve the private and general transportation movement.
Mujawar also renewed the call for Syrian businessmen and investors
to invest in Yemen especially to develop industrial areas in Yemen.
Mujawar recalled the international community to stay beside
Palestinian people as well as provide them with necessary security.
For his part, the Syrian Premier said that the meetings have
opportunities to enrich the Yemeni-Syrian cooperation and to discuss
several issues and topics.
"The meetings will highlight the Syrian-Yemeni cooperation not only
in economic, trade, agricultural, irrigation, oil, power, business,
transport, and tourist fields but also in education, media, sport
and youth", said Otri.
Otri pointed out the importance of holding talks to hinder all
difficulties facing the two countries' common interest through
taking procedures of increasing trade exchange between the two
countries.
