Legislative Authority, Foreign Minister hold meeting to review Arab Summit preparations

Manama, May 12 (BNA): The legislative authority held a joint meeting with Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani, Minister of Foreign Affairs, to review Bahrain’s preparations to host the 33rd Arab Summit (Bahrain Summit), to be held on Thursday under the presidency of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa.
The Council of Representatives was represented by its Speaker Ahmed bin Salman Al Musallam; the Shura Council was represented by its Chairman Ali bin Saleh Al Saleh; while the government was represented by Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani, Minister of Foreign Affairs.
The Speaker emphasised the importance of continuing meetings between the executive authority and the legislative authority, which reflect the commitment and cooperation between the two auhorities, in light of the directives of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and the support and follow-up of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister.
Al Musallam expressed his appreciation to the Minister of Foreign Affairs, for briefing members of the legislative authority on Bahrain’s preparations to host the summit.
He hailed Bahrain’s stance on supporting the Palestinian cause and the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people, in establishing an independent state with East Jerusalem as its capital, ending the war on the Gaza Strip, protecting civilians, and respecting international humanitarian law.
The Speaker highlighted the legislative authority’s commitment to supporting the outcomes of the Arab Summit, in Arab and international parliamentary forums, and to shed light on the efforts of Bahrain aimed at spreading and consolidating the culture of tolerance, coexistence, and peace.
For his part, the Shura Chairman affirmed that Bahrain’s initiatives on the Arab level are a testament of its support to the sustainability and development of the Arab countries, expressing his pride in Bahrain hosting of the summit.
He added that Bahrain’s hosting of the summit, led by HM the King and followed up by HRH the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, reflects the kingdom’s efforts to strengthening Arab relations and enhancing cooperation.
The Chairman lauded the diplomatic efforts of Dr. Al Zayani and other relevant entities, affirming that the integration of roles between all institutions will contribute to the success of the summit.
Dr. Al Zayani underscored Bahrain's pride, under the leadership of HM the King and with the support of HRH the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, in hosting the 33rd Arab Summit.
He expressed optimism that the summit's outcomes will contribute to reinforcing Arab unity, fostering deeper Arab integration, strengthening joint Arab efforts, and defending Arab interests.
The minister said that Bahrain has completed its preparations to host the Arab leaders and its guests, praising the efforts of the organising committee, led by General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, Minister of Interior.
Dr. Al Zayani underscored Bahrain's commitment to providing all necessary resources to ensure the success of the Arab Summit, enabling it to achieve its intended objectives of safeguarding Arab national security, unifying Arab positions, bolstering Arab solidarity, and fortifying joint Arab action.
The minister said that HM the King assigned him to conduct a tour covering Arab countries to brief their leaders and foreign ministers on the ongoing preparations for the summit. The tour also aimed at identifying their visions and aspirations, consulting with them, and coordinating efforts to realise goals and aspirations, to ensure the summit's success.
He said that in the meetings he held with leaders, and foreign ministers, he emphasised the desire of HM the King for the summit to promote solidarity and peace and for it to be a call to end conflicts and consolidate the values of tolerance and human coexistence.
Dr. Al Zayani expressed his appreciation to the leaders and foreign ministers he met during his tour for their commendation of Bahrain's hosting of the summit. He said that they valued Bahrain’s initiative for coordination and prior consultation, and that they expressed their hopes for the summit to contribute to fostering Arab unity and solidarity, protecting Arab interests, and maintaining security.
