2nd phase of mining improvement in Yemen signed
CAIRO, June 28 (Saba) - The 2nd phase of mining environment
improvement project in Yemen was signed in the Egypt's capital,
Cairo, on Sunday between Yemen Geological Survey and Mineral
Resources Board (YGSMRB) and World Bank.
The 2nd phase of the project aims at creating effective coordination
between the companies working in mining sector in Yemen and the
local societies surrounding the companies' locations to make
attractive investment environment.
The 2nd phase includes giving those societies the expected rights
from such investments like work opportunities and infrastructure
improvement.
The agreement was signed by YGSMRB Chairman Ismail al-Ganad and WB's
Senior Operations Manager for Middle East and North Africa Frank
Sader.
The first phase of this project included upgrading the regulating
legislations of mining in Yemen to suite the global legislations.
