TGA and Saudi Aramco Train Marine Examiners in Saudi Arabia

Riyadh, May 21, 2024, SPA -- In partnership with the Maritime Training Academy at Saudi Aramco, the Transport General Authority (TGA) recently organized a 5-day course titled "Examination, Assessment and Certification for Seafarer,” featuring the participation of experts and specialists in the maritime transport sector in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, according to a TGA news release.
According to the statement, the piloting course -- the first of its kind in the Kingdom -- aims to qualify experts in the maritime field to certify seafarers in the kingdom. It is designed to fulfill TGA requirements for accrediting approved examiners to qualify marine seafarers in accordance with the requirement of the International Convention of the Standard of Training, Certification and Watchkeeping for Seafarers (STCW) 1978, as amended. The course’s main objectives are to enhance seafarers' proficiency and skills, contributing to the advancement of the maritime transport sector and elevating the quality and standards of maritime training services in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
The Marine Training Academy at Saudi Aramco received accreditation from the TGA to conduct the course, since the prerequisites outlined in the model course and the accreditation criteria have been met.
The Marine Training Academy is a nationally recognized institute dedicated to upholding the highest standards of professional services in marine training and preparing emerging national talent for the highest levels of practical and theoretical proficiency. The academy focuses on equipping national talent with the marine skills necessary for ship repair and construction, navigation, marine engineering, and other maritime services.
