HRH the Crown Prince, Prime Minister of Japan Hold Video Teleconference Meeting

Jeddah, May 21, 2024, SPA -- His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, held a video teleconference meeting today with Prime Minister of Japan Kishida Fumio.
Prime Minister Kishida expressed his sincere wishes for the speedy recovery of Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, and said that he looks forward to HRH the Crown Prince's visit to Japan.
HRH the Crown Prince thanked the prime minister for his sincere wishes and the invitation again to visit Japan.
The two sides discussed relations between the two countries and ways to develop them. They also reviewed regional and international developments and the efforts exerted in this regard, in addition to issues of common interest.
They also discussed the efforts exerted to stop Israeli attacks, deliver humanitarian aid, support efforts aimed at international recognition of the independent Palestinian state, and support the right of the Palestinian people to self-determination.
The prime minister noted the 70th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries, stressing that cooperation with the Kingdom contributes to the stability of the region. He also referred to the cultural cooperation between the two countries in holding the Expo in both countries.
The two leaders concurred to establish a Strategic Partnership Council (SPC).
Prime Minister Kishida expressed his gratitude for the stable supply of crude oil from Saudi Arabia to Japan over the years and stated that he expects Saudi Arabia to continue to play a leading role in stabilizing the global oil market and supporting global supply chain for clean energy.
HRH the Crown Prince affirmed that Saudi Arabia remains committed to the stable supply of crude oil to Japan and that Saudi Arabia would like to cooperate with Japan in other areas including the field of clean energy.
Prime Minister Kishida expressed his hopes for direct investment from Saudi Arabia into Japan in a wide range of fields, as well as cooperation in the fields of construction, power transmission, utilization of hydrogen, digital, ICT, space, health, medicine, food, agriculture and other sectors, which will lead to creating business opportunities.
Discussions also covered bilateral economic and investment cooperation in the energy sector, including joint investments. They also discussed climate initiatives, environmental sustainability, environmental protection, and mitigation of climate change effects.
HRH the Crown Prince commended the trade exchange and its growth in recent years between the two countries, and hoped to work with Japanese companies in a number of promising fields and huge projects, pointing out that Japan is the largest investment destination for the Kingdom.
Prime Minister Kishida stated that he is pleased to hand over the torch of the Expo to Saudi Arabia in 2030 from Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai, and that he seeks to further encourage the growth of exchanges including in the fields of entertainment, tourism, academia and sports.
HRH the Crown Prince stated that Japan is also an outstanding country in the area of culture, and that he seeks to strengthen cooperation with Japan in this area as well.
