Arab Parliament Calls for the Protection of Relief Organizations in the Occupied Palestinian Territories
Cairo, June 02, 2024, SPA -- The Arab Parliament condemned the Israeli occupation authorities' attempt to designate the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) as a terrorist organization, criminalize its activities and remove the immunity of its employees.
In a statement issued today, the Arab Parliament said that UNRWA provides aid and relief to about 6.4 million Palestinian refugees, including two million refugees in Gaza Strip who are subjected to unprecedented aggression, genocide and starvation at the hands of the Israeli occupation.
It called on the international community, international organizations and human rights organizations to fulfill their responsibility and end these repeated crimes and violations, provide protection for the Palestinian people and compel the Israeli occupation to immediately and permanently cease its ongoing violations of international law and international humanitarian law.
It also asked for the protection of relief organizations staff, particularly UNRWA, which plays a significant role in providing humanitarian aid and services to Palestinians in the occupied Palestinian territories, including Gaza Strip.
