UNA to Hold Islamic Media Forum to Support Palestinian Recognition Initiatives and Counter Hostile Narratives

Makkah, June 06, 2024, SPA -- The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Union of News Agencies (UNA) and the Muslim World League (MWL) General Secretariat for Institutional Communication are organizing a media forum on Sunday, June 9, entitled "Media and the Palestinian Right: Practical Steps to Build on Palestinian Recognition Initiatives." It will be attended by news agencies in Islamic countries, international media unions, global media representatives, international organizations, and diplomatic, cultural, and religious figures.
The forum will be held virtually and aims to establish a practical basis for Islamic and international media cooperation to support initiatives to recognize the State of Palestine. Its goals include enabling the Palestinian people to achieve their legitimate rights, enhancing the role of the media in resolving international crises, and promoting a culture of peace and coexistence among different peoples and civilizations.
UNA acting Director General Mohammad bin Abdulrahman Al-Yami, elaborated that the forum will present practical steps to strengthen international media cooperation on the Palestinian issue. This will involve intensifying media coverage of announcements made by countries around the world regarding the recognition of Palestine, positively addressing them, and activating the role of the media in exposing and preventing war crimes and crimes against humanity.
