Today, in spite of the existing global crisis, several countries and their companies continue to make investment in Azerbaijan. We try to continue our policy of reforms and pursue the open door policy.”
President Ilham Aliyev said in spite of the global economic crisis, Azerbaijan`s economy develops rapidly. “In spite of the crisis, our economy grew during the first months of the current year. The GDP growth made up 4, 5 percent during the first five months, while increase in the non-oil sector constituted more than 6 percent.”
The President said “oil sector will prevail in our economy during the coming several years. Our success in implementation of our energy policy, energy strategy is associated with this”.
President of Azerbaijan noted that oil production would reach 50 million tons and gas production 25-27 billion cubic meters. According to him, Azerbaijan meets its own domestic demand and exports natural resources to the world markets.
“Unlike our neighbors we are not in need of huge foreign aid. We do not receive funds from other sources. It became possible thanks to our activity and hard work,” said the President.
“During Israeli President`s visit to our country, we had very effective talks yesterday. I think continuation of these talks on the second day will be as successful as it was on the first day. I am confident that businessmen of both countries will contribute to bilateral relations,” added Azerbaijani leader.
Shimon Peres told of the ongoing global economic crisis and its causes. He shared his views on the problems facing humanity. According to him, one of them is the energy and water supply.
“I think water supply will become the biggest industry in ten years. By estimation, it can reach 400 billion dollars. It also applies to the energy sector,” said Peres, adding people are searching for sources for alternative energy sources.
Israeli President pointed out application of nanotechnologies will expand use of solar energy. According to him, it will provide an opportunity for solving energy problems of humanity.
