Saudi Minister of Municipal, Rural Affairs and Housing Witnesses the Launch of Türkiye-Saudi Arabia Construction Forum

Istanbul, July 03, 2024, SPA -- The Türkiye-Saudi Arabia Construction Forum and accompanying workshop started today in Istanbul, organized by the Saudi Contractors Authority (SCA). The aim of the forum is to connect construction companies from both countries and establish partnerships for major development projects. The event was attended by Minister of Municipal, Rural Affairs and Housing Majid bin Abdullah Al-Hogail, Turkish Deputy Minister of Trade Mustafa Tuzcu, SCA board of directors' chairman Eng. Zakria Al-Abdulqadir, Turkish Contractors Association president Erdal Eren, and representatives of Saudi and Turkish companies.
The forum is part of the official visit of the Saudi minister of municipal and rural affairs and housing to Türkiye, with the goal of strengthening cooperation in real-estate development, road infrastructure, waste management, and recycling, as well as attracting leading Turkish companies in these fields to enter the Saudi market.
During the forum, the Saudi minister met with representatives of Saudi and Turkish contracting companies to explore investment opportunities and partnerships, particularly in the municipal and housing sectors, and ways to develop regulations and legislation along with the work mechanism to contribute to the quality of services provided in the Kingdom for citizens, residents, and visitors. He emphasized the importance of private-sector involvement in Saudi development and progress.
During the forum's inauguration, the minister highlighted the significance of collaborative work in environmental, road, sanitation, and waste-management fields to enhance city services and residents' quality of life. He expressed optimism about the forum's outcomes and its potential to boost trade between the two countries as it aims to create investment opportunities and effective alliances, utilizing global best practices to improve Saudi cities' urban landscape.
"The forum aims to create investment opportunities and effective alliances between companies in the two countries, harness efforts and resources to improve the quality of life in Saudi cities, improve the urban landscape, provide adequate means of living by preparing prosperous cities, and benefiting from successful experiences and applying the best global practices in this regard, to have a real and tangible impact on Saudi cities,” Al-Hogail said.
The minister emphasized that Saudi Arabia's Vision 2030 aims to elevate economic and social aspects, and the Ministry of Municipal and Rural Affairs and Housing is working towards various development goals.
He pointed out that the construction sector in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is growing significantly, expressing the Kingdom's keenness to expand its partnerships and benefit from international companies and expertise, and welcoming contracting and real-estate development companies and investors from the Turkish side who are interested in investing and working in various sectors such as construction, roads, and waste management in Saudi cities.
