On World Youth Skills Day, KSrelief Spotlights Efforts to Empower Youth Worldwide

Riyadh, July 16, 2024, SPA – Saudi Arabia, through its humanitarian arm, the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center (KSrelief), has made strides in standing by the needy, affected, and displaced individuals worldwide without discrimination.
Through 2,973 projects with a total value surpassing US$6 billion, KSrelief has provided various forms of relief and humanitarian support to 100 countries in collaboration with 187 international, regional, and local partners.
Notably, the KSrelief has paid special attention to youth as the cornerstone of society. On the World Youth Skills Day, observed annually on July 15, KSrelief promotes the comprehensive humanitarian and relief programs and projects it has provided to young people. These programs include economic empowerment, vocational training, psychological and social support, as well as cultural and recreational activities.
In this context, the center implemented a project to rehabilitate the Burao Technical Institute in Somalia, developing its infrastructure and building its capacities to provide the enrolled youth with the necessary training skills for their professional lives. The project benefited 4,990 young people.
In collaboration with the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), KSrelief empowered 42,960 Yemeni women in the governorates of Shabwah, Lahj, Al-Mahra, Marib, and Hadhramaut. It enhanced the capacities of those affected by gender-based violence by providing them with vocational training programs, psychological and social services, and protection, with a total value of US$2 million.
KSrelief implemented a volunteer economic empowerment training program for earthquake-affected Syrians and Turks in Reyhanlı, in Türkiye's Hatay Province. The program included specialized courses in economic support for low-income youth, benefiting 101 individuals.
The center developed a program to improve the skills and capacities of youth in Tajikistan through the rehabilitation of youth training and capacity-building centers, benefiting 3,600 individuals.
In Syria, KSrelief established and sponsored community care centers dedicated to providing psychological, social, and vocational rehabilitation services to children, women, adolescents, and youth in northern parts of the country. These centers offer important programs including courses to develop the skills of young men and women in vital areas such as computers, English language, sewing, hairstyling, painting, car mechanics, and more. They also organize open dialogue sessions for youth and provide various cinema, sports, and recreational activities for adolescents and youth, aiming to enhance their social adaptation, develop their professional skills, and improve their response to modern technologies and crafts. These activities benefited 29,988 individuals.
In Yemen, KSrelief implemented an economic recovery enhancement project that provided 675 young men and women with technical, vocational, and managerial skills to qualify them for the job market and create job opportunities for them. The project also aimed to improve the livelihoods of female breadwinners of displaced and vulnerable families by enrolling them in suitable vocational courses, benefiting 575 individuals.
The implemented efforts by Saudi Arabia affirm that youth constitute a crucial part of KSrelief's plans and programs. They also underscore the unwavering support for the young population in affected countries worldwide.
