SR 4.5 mln, other Saudi aid to combat Malaria in Yemen

SANA' A, July 01 (Saba) - The National Malaria Control Program
received on Wednesday financial and concrete aid from the Saudi
Health Ministry.

The National Program for Combating Diseases and Epidemic Monitoring
also received medical materials used in detection of H1N1-infected
cases presented from the Saudi Foreign Ministry.

The total cost of the aid amounted to SR 4.5 million.

The devices and equipments of combating Malaria were handed over by
Saudi ambassador to Yemen Ali bin Mohammad Al-Hamdan .

Undersecretary of Public Health and Population for Medical Care
Sector Dr. Ghazi Ismail valued the Saudi constant and effective
support to the health sector in Yemen in general as well as the
joint efforts to combat Malaria in the borders areas and Tihama in
particular.

Dr. Ismail affirmed that all these efforts aim at making the Arab
peninsula free of Malaria by 2015.

For his part, the Saudi ambassador made it clear that the aid comes
within the framework of strengthening relations between the two
brotherly countries.

The aid aim at reducing the health problems resulted from Malaria in
the borders areas, Al-Hamdan added.
