POLISH INSTITUTE OF INTERNATIONAL RELATIONS MARKS INCREASE OF THE ROLE OF AZERBAIJAN IN POWER SECURITY OF EUROPE

Ankara, 2 July (AzerTAc). The report of the Polish Institute of the International Relations, named “The South Caucasus: possibilities of joint cooperation for Turkey and the European Union”, underlines necessity of active cooperation of the European Union with Turkey and the countries of Southern Caucasus.
In the report, it is stated that for achievement of success in the regional policy the European countries should act together with Turkey. And the basic problems arising against growing interest of EU on Southern Caucasus are connected with safety of economic, in particular, power projects. To ensure stability in this region also is important for the European Union and Turkey from the point of view of communications and transportation of power resources of the Caspian basin, in particular, Azerbaijan, the role of Southern Caucasus gradually grows in power security of Europe.
The authors underline that as long as the conflicts in region – the Nagorno-Karabakh, South Ossetia and Abkhazian problems are not solved, there can not be established peace and stability. These conflicts create favorable zones for the international organized crime, terrorism and drug trafficking. Along with that, settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh problem creates ample opportunities in region, and it can promote normalization of the Turkish-Armenian relations, too.
The report gives to the countries of the European Union recommendations to pay much attention to difference between Armenia and the Armenian Diaspora and more strictly approach to activity of the Diaspora, causing damage to the interests of Armenia.
As is underlined in the report, Turkey and the European Union should have joint talks with Azerbaijan concerning the Nabucco project which will transport natural gas from Turkey to Europe.
The Polish Institute International Relations in Warsaw current year has been included in the list of 50 strongest international scientific centers of the world.
