FOUNDERS OF “AZERBAIJAN INTERNATIONAL” MAGAZINE GOT HAFIZ PASHAYEV AWARD
Founder of “Azerbaijan International” Magazine Pirouze Khanlou and its editor-in-chief Betty Blair got Hafiz Pashayev Award for contribution to strengthening of American-Azerbaijani relations.
“Pirouze and Betty have opened the door to Azerbaijan for thousands of Americans, introducing their adopted homeland via the pages of Azerbaijan International”, said US Ambassador to Azerbaijan Mrs. Anne Derse.
The diplomat underlined that over the past 16 years, the magazine has focused on the people of Azerbaijan, their history, art, literature, music, food, traditions, personalities and humor.
Azerbaijan`s Deputy Foreign Affairs Minister Hafiz Pashayev congratulated magazine founders. He told of history of its creation and difficulties the founders overcame. Mr. Pashayev stressed the importance of magazine for development of American-Azerbaijan relations.
Hafiz Pashayev Award was instituted in 2008 to distribute prizes to people, who develop bilateral relations between USA and Azerbaijan in various areas.
