‘AZERBAIJAN PLAYS KEY ROLE IN SOUTH CAUCASUS IN TERMS OF SECURITY AND DEVELOPMENT’

Baku, July 2 (AzerTAc). “European nations are keen on security and sustainable development. Azerbaijan is playing a key role in the South Caucasus in terms of security and development. We place special emphasis on cooperation with Azerbaijan in these fields,” visiting OSCE chairman-in-office, Greek Foreign Minister, Dora Bakoyannis told a press conference at the Azerbaijan Foreign Ministry.
Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov said talks with Greek counterpart focused on bilateral cooperation, security, energy projects and solution of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.
Minister pointed out President Ilham Aliyev`s visit to Athens pushed bilateral relations to a much higher level.
Mammadyarov said talks are underway to increase natural gas export to Greece.
Dora Bakoyannis said European security had been recently discussed in Greece. She stressed the role of Azerbaijan in implementing security and energy projects.
According Bakoyannis, bilateral relations have developed even more following President Ilham Aliyev`s Greece trip, providing opportunities for closer cooperation in all spheres.
