AZERBAIJAN-ROMANIA INTERGOVERNMENTAL JOINT COMMISSION`S 4TH MEETING KICKS OFF IN BAKU
Baku, July 2 (AzerTAc). The 4th meeting of Azerbaijan-Romania Intergovernmental Joint Commission for trade and economic relations and scientific and technical cooperation started here on Thursday.
Opening the event, Azerbaijani co-chair of the commission, First Deputy Prime Minister Yagub Eyyubov said “friendly relations and strategic partnership between the two countries develop”.
He underlined Romania was one of the first countries to recognize Azerbaijan`s independence.
Eyyubov noted Romania had always backed his country`s “fair position on the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict”.
According to him, a visit by President Ilham Aliyev to Romania had contributed to deepening bilateral cooperation even more.
He pointed out Romania was a reliable partner of Azerbaijan in the Eastern Europe.
Eyyubov also briefed the participants on the “major projects” carried out in Azerbaijan. He stressed in spite of the global financial crisis Azerbaijan`s economy develops rapidly.
Romanian co-chair of the commission, the country`s Minister of Economy Adrian Videanu said his country considers Azerbaijan a “reliable partner”.
He noted the two countries have favorable opportunities to develop economic cooperation. According to the Minister, Romanian businessmen`s interest in Azerbaijan increase day by day.
The meeting participants exchanged views on a number of issues including expanding trade cooperation between the two countries and establishing joint enterprises.
A final protocol on the outcomes of the meeting will be signed tomorrow.
