US INDEPENDENCE DAY MARKED IN AZERBAIJAN
Baku, July 3 (AzerTAc). US Ambassador to Azerbaijan Mrs. Anne Derse gave an official reception on the occasion of the United States Independence Day.
Addressing the meeting participants, Mrs. Derse underlined that there is diverse and strategic partnership between the USA and Azerbaijan. Azerbaijan as the United States chose the right way of democracy that secures independent, peaceful and prosperous future of nation. US supports political and economic reforms being implemented in Azerbaijan, said Mrs. Derse. Ambassador praised Azerbaijan`s role in providing global security and fighting terrorism.
Speaker of Milli Majlis (Azerbaijan Parliament) Ogtay Asadov congratulated ceremony participants on behalf of Azerbaijan President Ilham Aliyev and wished Americans peace and prosperity.
Mr. Asadov underlined that US was one of the first countries that recognized Azerbaijan`s independence. Bringing relations to the level of strategic partnership is of great services of both countries` heads, he said.
Over 50 documents were signed between the two countries up to now that created a legal basis for deepening of relations. He emphasized a special role of the Parliament in development of ties between the two countries.
MPs, ministers, ambassadors of foreign countries in Baku, media outlets were present at the meeting.
