Political Affairs Undersecretary participates in international conference supporting Lebanon

Paris, Oct. 24 (BNA): Dr. Shaikh Abdullah bin Ahmed Al Khalifa, Undersecretary for Political Affairs at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, participated in the "International Conference Supporting the People and Sovereignty of Lebanon" in Paris.
The Undersecretary reaffirmed Bahrain's commitment, under the leadership of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, to de-escalate military tensions in the Middle East and prevent the spread of war, ensuring the security, stability, and sovereignty of Lebanon, as well as the rights of all peoples in the region to live in peace and prosperity.
He expressed Bahrain's appreciation for the initiative of President Emmanuel Macron of France in organising the conference, highlighting its diplomatic, political, and humanitarian goals related to the protection of civilians, addressing their humanitarian needs, ceasing hostilities, and avoiding military escalation to maintain regional security and stability in accordance with relevant United Nations Security Council resolutions.
The Undersecretary reiterated Bahrain's firm stance, through its presidency of the current session of the Arab League Council, in calling for all parties to exercise restraint, prioritise dialogue and negotiation to resolve regional tensions, protect innocent civilian lives, safeguard civilian property, and facilitate the delivery of humanitarian and medical assistance, in line with international law and international humanitarian law.
The Undersecretary urged the international community to respond to His Majesty the King's initiatives, endorsed by the Arab summit, calling for an international conference for peace in the Middle East as a strategic option for a ceasefire in Gaza and Lebanon, preventing conflicts, and achieving a just, comprehensive, and lasting peace in the region through the establishment of a Palestinian state based on the two-state solution. He also emphasised the importance of enhancing international cooperation to provide educational and healthcare services for those affected by conflicts.
Dr. Shaikh Abdullah bin Ahmed reaffirmed Bahrain's continued support for international diplomatic efforts aimed at an immediate, comprehensive, and permanent ceasefire in the region and the full implementation of United Nations Security Council Resolution 1701, which safeguards Lebanon's security, sovereignty, and national unity, strengthens confidence in its constitutional institutions, and contributes to establishing regional security and peace while protecting the region and its peoples from the dangers of wars, conflicts, and their humanitarian repercussions.
Essam Abdulaziz Al Jassim, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Bahrain to France was present at the meeting.
