Saudi Customs Seize largest Quantities of Narcotic Drugs

Riyadh, July 04, SPA -- Saudi Customs seized more than 14 million
drug pills, more than 41 kilograms of hashish and 4 kilograms of pure
heroin inside shoes and intestines of travelers at land, air and sea
customs entry points during May and June, 2009.

In a statement to The Saudi Press Agency (SPA), the Customs'
Official Spokesman Abdullah Al-Kharboush pointed out that the
quantities of the narcotic pills that were seized in two months and
the abortion of attempts of smuggling them are considered the largest
in the history of Saudi Customs.

He attributed the seizure of these quantities to the vigilance of
customs officers, the use of modern means in detecting contraband and
continuing cooperation and coordination between Saudi Customs and The
General Department of Narcotics Control.
