Legal Affairs Minister participates in Arab Labour Conference in Cairo

Cairo, Apr. 20 (BNA): Yousif bin Abdulhussain Khalaf, Minister of Legal Affairs and Acting Minister of Labour, participated in the 51st Arab Labour Conference, held in the Arab Republic of Egypt from April 19-26.
Delivering the speech of the Kingdom of Bahrain at the conference, the Minister said that the Kingdom is making steady progress towards greater economic diversification. He highlighted the Kingdom’s strong business environment, support for investment, and efforts to expand promising ventures. He also indicated ongoing development in the education system and its alignment with labour market needs, aimed at building a knowledge based economy that promotes innovation, entrepreneurship, and quality employment opportunities for citizens.
Minister Khalaf noted that Bahrain has launched the National Labour Market Plan (2023–2026), which sets the strategic direction for employing national talent over the next four years. He highlighted that the strategy aims to develop and stabilise the labour market, supported by initiatives such as employment and training infrastructure projects.
He added that Bahrain has adopted policies to foster an economic environment that supports entrepreneurship and encourages youth engagement in self-employment and innovation. The Kingdom has also provided various financial tools, advisory services, and training programmes to help establish small and medium-sized enterprises, contributing to job creation.
Yousif bin Abdulhussain also underlined the role of the Arab Labour Organisation in promoting cooperation among the three production parties in Arab states. He called on the organisation to intensify its efforts, study member states’ initiatives, and share successful labour market and human resource development experiences to help achieve comprehensive Arab economic integration.
On the sidelines of the conference, Minister Khalaf held bilateral meetings with heads of participating delegations and representatives of regional organisations and institutions.
