Foreign Minister participates in fifth meeting of Global Coalition for the Implementation of the Two-State Solution
Manama, May 20 (BNA): Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani, Minister of Foreign Affairs, participated via videoconference in the fifth meeting of the Global Alliance for the Implementation of the Two-State Solution, hosted by the Kingdom of Morocco in Rabat.
The meeting was co-chaired by Nasser Bourita, Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccan Expatriates; and Kaspar Veldkamp, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of the Netherlands. Participants in the meeting included European foreign ministers, experts, and specialists on the region.
In a recorded statement, Dr. Al Zayani said that Bahrain, under the leadership of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and the follow-up of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, has dedicated efforts to promoting peace and stability through dialogue and peaceful conflict resolution.
He added that the Kingdom’s commitment to this vision is reflected in its constant emphasis on coexistence and regional cooperation as the foundation for lasting peace. He highlighted that this strategic approach led to the signing of the Comprehensive Security Integration and Prosperity Agreement (C-SIPA) with the United States, further solidified by the United Kingdom’s accession to the agreement, reflecting a collective will to build a secure and prosperous region.
The Foreign Minister noted that during Bahrain’s presidency of the 33rd Arab Summit, the Kingdom focused on unifying Arab positions and sending a message of peace to the world, with particular attention to alleviating the suffering of the most vulnerable groups affected by conflicts and denied basic rights.
Dr. Al Zayani emphasised that resolving the Palestinian issue remains at the heart of Arab efforts, noting that the two-state solution is not just a political goal but a humanitarian and legal obligation based on international legitimacy. He noted that It is the only viable path to breaking the cycle of violence and opening new horizons for the region.
He added that the current humanitarian crisis in Gaza cannot be ignored and requires an immediate and lasting ceasefire, the release of hostages and detainees, and unhindered delivery of humanitarian aid. He emphasised that any long-term settlement must focus on reconstruction without forced displacement of civilians and establish an effective governance framework to ensure security and stability in Gaza.
The Foreign Minister said that Arab leaders have renewed their commitment to the Arab plan adopted at the extraordinary Arab Summit held in Cairo in March, co-chaired by His Majesty the King and His Excellency Abdel Fattah El Sisi, President of Arab Republic of Egypt, noting that the plan provides a clear roadmap for Gaza’s reconstruction.
He reiterated that the unprecedented state of unity among Arab and Islamic countries, now gaining growing European support, constitutes a fundamental basis for the alliance’s efforts. He emphasised the importance of building on this unity and momentum with serious engagement from all parties to enhance the global alliance, bring the two-state solution closer to reality, and transform the Middle East into a region of peace, stability, mutual respect, and secure coexistence.
