Singapore, Thai Leaders Touch Down In Malaysia for 46th ASEAN Summit
SEPANG (Selangor, Malaysia), May 25 (Bernama) -- Singapore Prime Minister Lawrence Wong and Thailand’s Prime Minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra arrived in Malaysia on Sunday evening to attend the 46th ASEAN Summit and Related Summits, scheduled to be held from May 26 to 27 at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre (KLCC).
Lawrence Wong, who arrived on a commercial flight, landed at Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA Terminal 1) at 8.57 pm and was received at the Bunga Raya Complex by Science, Technology and Innovation Minister Chang Lih Kang.
Shortly after, the special aircraft carrying Paetongtarn Shinawatra and the Thai delegation touched down at 9.45 pm.
She was received by Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Federal Territories), Dr Zaliha Mustafa.
Both leaders inspected a guard of honour mounted by 28 officers and personnel from the First Battalion Royal Ranger Regiment (Ceremonial), upon arrival at the Bunga Raya Complex.
The 46th ASEAN Summit, held under Malaysia’s ASEAN 2025 Chairmanship theme “Inclusivity and Sustainability”, will gather leaders from ASEAN member states to discuss regional challenges and set the course for future cooperation.
The summit will also be held in conjunction with two major high-level meetings -- the 2nd ASEAN-Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Summit and the inaugural ASEAN-GCC-China Summit -- reflecting ASEAN’s growing inter-regional engagement.
