MATRADE-led Malaysia Pavilion Achieves US$52.9 Million Trade Deals at SEMICON SEA 2025

KUALA LUMPUR, May 28 (Bernama) -- Nine Malaysian companies, showcased under the Malaysia Pavilion and coordinated by the Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation (MATRADE), have secured business deals worth RM235 million (US$52.9 million) at the recent SEMICON Southeast Asia (SEA) 2025 expo.

Over the three-day event held from May 20-22 in Singapore, the participating Malaysian companies displayed a range of products and services, including metal fabrication solutions, test handler machines, cleanroom garments and gloves, as well as burn-in testing equipment.

Abu Bakar Yusof, deputy chief executive officer (export acceleration) at MATRADE, noted that there was a steady stream of genuine business interest at the Malaysia Pavilion, despite ongoing global headwinds in the industry.

“From our engagement with Malaysian exhibitors, it is clear that SEMICON SEA continues to serve as a strategic platform for fostering business connections and expanding market reach,” he said in a statement Wednesday.

Abu Bakar said the achievement reflected growing international confidence in Malaysia’s high-value manufacturing and engineering capabilities, aligning with the country’s aspirations under the New Industrial Master Plan 2030 (NIMP) and the National Semiconductor Strategy (NSS).

Meanwhile, MATRADE said this effort underscores its commitment to positioning Malaysia as a competitive and reliable player within the global semiconductor ecosystem.

SEMICON SEA 2025 marked MATRADE’s 10th consecutive year of participation in the event, which is part of the global SEMICON series. The series will continue with SEMICON West in the United States later this year.

For the January to April 2025 period, Malaysia’s trade in the global electrical and electronics (E&E) sector increased 28.4 per cent to RM399.43 billion, with exports contributing RM220.42 billion.

Exports of semiconductor devices, integrated circuits, transistors, and valves amounted to RM141.19 billion, accounting for 64.1 per cent of the country’s E&E exports.
