TURKISH ENERGY AND NATURAL RESOURCES MINISTER, SOCAR PRESIDENT BRIEF JOURNALISTS IN ISTANBUL

Ankara, July 11 (AzerTAc). Turkish Energy and Natural Resources Minister Taner Yildiz and President of SOCAR Rovnag Abdullayev made a press-conference on the outcomes of their meeting in Istanbul.
Rovnag Abdullayev said they discussed the conditions of transporting Azerbaijani gas to the European markets. “Relevant talks with the Turkish government are underway”, he added.
According to Abdullayev, there are rich natural gas reserves in Azerbaijan which provide an opportunity for the country to export 30-50 billion cubic meters of gas per year.
He added there are 200-250 billion cubic meters of gas in “Umid” field and 1 trillion 200 billion cubic meters in “Shahdeniz” field.
Abdullayev also underlined his country backs Nabucco project.
Taner Yildiz, in turn, said no agreement has been reached with the Azerbaijani delegation. “But we hope to come to an agreement on the transit and purchase of natural gas from Azerbaijan by 2015-2016, and we will try the two countries` interests be ensured”, he pointed out.
