No hasty decision on Sreedharan's resignation: Delhi govt

New Delhi, Jul 12 (PTI) The Delhi government Sunday said
it will not take any "hasty decision" on the resignation of
Delhi Metro chief E Sreedharan and that it will have to think
about "what is good for the city".

"Delhi government is not going to take any hasty decision
in deciding on his resignation. Sreedharan is a very emotional
person and that is why he has taken moral responsibility," P K
Tripathi, Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister, told PTI.

Sreedharan sent his resignation to Chief Minister Sheila
Dikshit, taking moral responsibility for a mishap at a Metro
construction site here this morning, which claimed five lives.

"We will have to think what is good for Delhi.
Commonwealth Games is round the corner. There are certain
deadlines to be met. We will have to see all these things and
discuss all issues before taking a decision," he said.

"A hasty decision will not be a right decision," Tripathi
said, adding a committee has also been formed and the
government will have to look into its report.

Describing Sreedharan as a "man of integrity", he said
"we are not going to take any decision immediately".

A spokesman from Lt Governor Tejendra Khanna's office
said "the decision will have to be taken at a political
level." The DMRC is under the Urban Development Ministry and a
lot of authorities are involved, he said, adding the L-G alone
will not take a decision. PTI MPB
