Social Development Minister attends closing session of Arab regional meeting ahead of 2nd World Summit for Social Development

Tunisia, July 1 (BNA): Osama bin Saleh Al Alawi, Minister of Social Development and Chair of the 44th session of the Council of Arab Ministers of Social Affairs, attended the closing session of the high-level Arab regional meeting hosted by the Republic of Tunisia to prepare for the Second World Summit for Social Development.
Minister Al Alawi emphasised Bahrain’s ongoing commitment, during its current presidency, to coordinate with the Council’s technical secretariat in preparation for the Second World Summit for Social Development at the Arab level.
He expressed hope that the meeting’s outcomes would advance more inclusive and sustainable development in Arab societies.
On the sidelines, he met with Issam Al Ahmar, Minister of Social Affairs of Tunisia, to discuss means to enhance social cooperation between the Kingdom of Bahrain and Tunisia in the social field, as well as the exchange of experiences and successful practices in the areas of social protection and care.
The ministers also reviewed areas of joint coordination within the framework of Arab social work, in light of Bahrain’s presidency of the current session.
He also met with Dr. Samah Hamad, Minister of Social Development of the State of Palestine, to discuss advancing cooperation.
Minister Al Alawi visited the International Centre for Promotion of Disabled in Tunisia, where he reviewed its facilities and services.
He commended the centre’s work and its commitment to supporting the rights and inclusion of the disabled.
