Shura Council Chairman meets Russian Federation Council Speaker

Moscow, July 15 (BNA): Ali bin Saleh Al Saleh, Chairman of the Shura Council, met with Valentina Matvienko, Speaker of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation, in Moscow.
The meeting, held during Al Saleh’s official visit to Russia, marked the 35th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries and focused on strengthening cooperation across legislative, economic, and developmental sectors.
Al Saleh emphasised Bahrain’s strong and growing relationship with Russia, attributing its success to the unwavering support of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and His Excellency Vladimir Putin, President of the Russian Federation.
He also commended the continuous support of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, and His Excellency Mikhail Mishustin, the Prime Minister of Russia, as essential to advancing the shared achievements and sustaining the progress of bilateral cooperation.
Al Saleh recalled a series of royal visits by His Majesty the King to Russia over the past 25 years, each marking key milestones in the countries’ relationship through the signing of numerous agreements and memorandums. He highlighted the ongoing expansion of bilateral collaboration in trade, investment, tourism, education, food security, energy, and cultural exchange.
He also expressed gratitude for Russia’s support during Bahrain’s election to a non-permanent seat on the UN Security Council for the 2026–2027 term, emphasising the Kingdom’s role in promoting peace and global stability.
On her part, Matvienko emphasised that the visit would strengthen parliamentary cooperation and enhance legislative exchange. She commended Bahrain’s rapid development, coexistence, tolerance, and women empowerment, recognising the Kingdom as a model for religious harmony and social diversity.
Matvienko noted that Russian-Bahraini relations are founded on mutual respect and shared objectives, as well as joint efforts to ensure the sustainability of cooperation and coordination that promotes prosperity and development for both countries.
