Bahrain Olympic Committee supports Sheikh Joaan bin Hamad Al Thani’s candidacy for Presidency of OCA

Manama, July 20 (BNA): His Highness Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, First Deputy Chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports (SCYS), President of the General Sports Authority (GSA), and President of the Bahrain Olympic Committee, The Kingdom of Bahrain remains steadfast in its support for Gulf sports leaders seeking international positions, following the principles of joint Gulf cooperation in the sports sector. This approach is aimed at supporting Gulf personnel for various regional, continental, and international positions.
HH Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad said that the Bahrain Olympic Committee supports Sheikh Joaan bin Hamad Al Thani, President of the Qatar Olympic Committee, in his candidacy for the presidency of the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA). Sheikh Joaan bin Hamad is recognised as a leading Gulf sports official who has held key international positions, including First Vice-President of the Association of National Olympic Committees (ANOC). These roles have contributed to achievements for Qatar, the region, and Asia.
HH Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad commended the strategic vision adopted by Sheikh Joaan bin Hamad in his candidacy for the presidency of the OCA, which is founded upon supporting development efforts, promoting cooperative initiatives in the fields of governance and sports administration, and enhancing the infrastructure and institutional capacities of member National Olympic Committees.
HH Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad noted the ties between Bahrain and Qatar, particularly in sports, and emphasised his support for Sheikh Joaan bin Hamad’s candidacy in the elections for the presidency of the OCA.
