Brunei’s Second Foreign Minister on Working Visit to Malaysia for 26th EOL Meeting
PUTRAJAYA (Malaysia), July 22 (Bernama) -- Brunei’s Second Foreign Minister, Dato Seri Setia Haji Erywan bin Pehin Datu Pekerma Jaya Haji Mohd Yusof, is undertaking a two-day working visit to Malaysia starting Tuesday to attend the 26th Meeting on the Implementation of the Exchange of Letters (EOL).
In a statement on Tuesday, the Foreign Ministry said Foreign Minister Mohamad Hasan will host his Bruneian counterpart during the visit.
Both foreign ministers will co-chair the meeting on Wednesday (July 23).
“The annual EOL Meeting is a key bilateral mechanism for resolving issues and exploring new areas of cooperation between Malaysia and Brunei.
“Both ministers are expected to take stock of progress on bilateral issues, including land and maritime boundaries, and discuss efforts to enhance economic cooperation,” the statement read.
The ministry said the EOL Meeting will also serve as a platform to prepare for the upcoming 26th Annual Leaders’ Consultation, which will be hosted by Malaysia in August this year.
In 2024, Brunei was Malaysia's sixth-largest trading partner within ASEAN, with total trade reaching RM7.53 billion (US$1.77 billion).
From January to May 2025, bilateral trade amounted to US$0.58 billion (RM2.56 billion), reflecting the continued strength of economic ties between both countries.
