Combating Human Trafficking Is Shared Responsibility, Human Rights Chief Says
Riyadh, July 30, 2025, SPA -- National Society for Human Rights (NSHR) President Khalid Alfakhri underscored that combating human trafficking is a shared responsibility. He emphasized it demands concerted national, regional, and international efforts to protect victims, deter perpetrators, and enhance cooperation against such crimes that violate human dignity and fundamental rights.
Marking the World Day Against Trafficking in Persons, Alfakhri emphasized Saudi Arabia's robust national commitment to combating human trafficking. The Kingdom is establishing a comprehensive, integrated system for this purpose. Key initiatives involve strengthening regulatory frameworks and national policies as well as intensifying specialized training and capacity-building programs. Efforts also focus on expanding public awareness through media campaigns and refining mechanisms for victim identification and support. The comprehensive approach is further enhanced by deepening cooperation with regional and international entities, ensuring alignment with global best practices.
Alfakhri emphasized the importance of further developing and expanding these efforts, including strengthening research and academic partnerships to better understand crime patterns, enhancing national capabilities for more effective combat, and continuing cooperation with regional and international partners.
