Bahrain participates in high-level IPU meeting on International Peace and Security

Geneva, July 29 (BNA): A Parliamentary Division of the Kingdom of Bahrain participated in a high-level meeting titled "Upholding the UN Charter and International Law to Ensure International Peace and Security", held today in Geneva. The meeting was hosted by Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf on the sidelines of the Sixth Conference of Parliamentary Speakers, organised by the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU), from July 29 to 31.
Bahrain was represented by MP Abdulnabi Salman Ahmed, First Deputy Speaker of the Council of Representatives, and Dr. Bassam Ismail Albinmohammed, member of the Shura Council’s Foreign Affairs, Defence and National Security Committee.
The delegation reaffirmed the Kingdom’s firm support for regional and international efforts aimed at promoting global peace and security, upholding international law, and respecting the UN Charter.
The delegation highlighted Bahrain’s foreign policy approach based on peaceful solutions, multilateral cooperation, and commitment to international legitimacy, underlining that international law is essential for collective security and regional stability.
The delegation also reiterated Bahrain’s commitment to constructive cooperation with partner nations, in line with the vision of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, which emphasises peace, sovereignty, and mutual respect as foundations for sustainable development.
The delegation affirmed that Bahrain’s Parliament supports the government's efforts, led by His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, to reflect international principles in legislation and diplomacy.
They also noted that Bahrain’s upcoming membership in the UN Security Council (2026 – 2027) reflects the Kingdom’s balanced foreign policy and growing international role.
The delegation emphasised the importance of parliamentary partnerships in strengthening international cooperation and peace-building efforts.
