Indo, Pak FS to meet tomorrow ahead of Singh-Gilani meeting

Sharm-el Sheikh (Egypt), Jul 13 (PTI) Ahead of Indian
Prime Minister Manmohan Singh's meeting with his Pakistani
counterpart Yousuf Raza Gilani, Foreign Secretaries of the two
countries will meet here Tuesday to review the progress made
by Islamabad to bring to book perpetrators of Mumbai attacks.

Indian Foreign Secretary Shivshankar Menon will
discuss with his Pakistani counterpart Salman Bashir the
primary issue of terrorism and what Islamabad has done to end
terrorism directed against India.

The relations between India and Pakistan have been
under "considerable stress" and the prime cause for it was
terror acts emanating from Pakistan.

The meeting between two prime ministers expected on
July 16 on the sidelines of the Non-Aligned Summit (NAM) here
will take place two months after the Indian leader met
President Asif Ali Zardari in Yekaterinburg in Russia.

During that meeting, Singh had delivered a stern
message to Zardari in the full glare of media that his mandate
was to tell Pakistan that it has to take action against
terrorism emanating from its soil against India.

Ahead of his meeting with Gilani, Singh has made it
clear that New Delhi would "do all that is necessary" to
resolve all outstanding issues if Pakistan takes "credible
action" to deal with terrorist elements targeting India.

Noting that he was looking forward to his meeting with
Gilani, Singh said he was hoping that the Pakistani leader
would give a "renewed reaffirmation" to bring the perpetrators
of 26/11 attacks to justice and that they would not allow
Pakistani soil to be used for terror acts directed against
India.

During his stay in Egypt, Singh would hold bilateral
meetings with leaders of Pakistan, Bangladesh, Egypt, Nepal,
Sri Lanka and Vietnam.

External Affairs Minister S M Krishna and National
Security Adviser M K Narayanan are part of Singh's delegation
to the NAM Summit. PTI
