Celebration Meeting Held by Russian Social Organizations

Pyongyang, August 17 (KCNA) -- A meeting of Russian social organizations took place at the building of the Russian Veterans' Union on August 12 on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of Korea's liberation.
Present there were personages of the Russian Association for Friendship and Cultural Cooperation with the DPRK, the Korean War Veterans' Council, the Russian Veterans' Union, the Foreign Ministry, the Academy of Sciences and other units and members of the Group for International Solidarity with the DPRK.
Speeches were made there.
The chairman of the Russian Association for Friendship and Cultural Cooperation with the DPRK said that the 80th anniversary of Korea's liberation is a common holiday of not only the Korean people but also the world progressives.
After greeting the day of liberation under the leadership of Comrade Kim Il Sung, the DPRK people have made eye-opening development, overcoming all sorts of challenges and trials of history, he said.
The DPRK people showed that only the people led by the outstanding leader can bravely overcome any difficulties and advance along the road chosen by themselves, he said, adding that under the leadership of the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un, the DPRK people have achieved world-startling miraculous successes in different fields.
The chairman of the Russian Veterans' Union said that August 15, 1945 is a historic day when the Korean people liberated the country by defeating the Japanese imperialists shoulder to shoulder with the officers and men of the Red Army under the leadership of the great Comrade Kim Il Sung, adding that it was thanks to the outstanding commanding art of Kim Il Sung that the Korean People's Revolutionary Army could defeat the Japanese aggressors armed to the teeth without state-backing home front at that time.
A section chief of the Institute of Oriental Studies of the Russian Academy of Sciences said that Korea's liberation provided the Korean people with a reliable foundation for successfully pushing forward the building of an independent and sovereign state and made a great contribution to the security in the Asia-Pacific region, adding that he paid high tribute to the great Comrade Kim Il Sung who provided the Korean people with the liberation and laid the foundation for prosperity. -0-
