Social Development Minister marks World Humanitarian Day
Manama, Aug. 18 (BNA): Osama bin Saleh Al Alawi, Minister of Social Development, affirmed that under the leadership of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and the guidance of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, the Kingdom continues to strengthen its regional and international presence through a developmental and humanitarian approach that reflects the authentic values of Bahraini society and reinforces its pioneering role in philanthropy and sustainable humanitarian work.
Marking World Humanitarian Day, the minister highlighted the prominent humanitarian contributions of the Royal Humanitarian Foundation (RHF), chaired by His Highness Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, His Majesty the King’s Representative for Humanitarian Work and Youth Affairs and Chairman of the RHF Board of Trustees. He noted the Foundation’s extensive efforts, both within Bahrain and abroad, in implementing developmental initiatives and projects, as well as delivering relief aid to countries affected by disasters and crises, thereby presenting an honourable image of the Kingdom in the field of international humanitarian action.
He underlined that the Ministry of Social Development is committed to advancing humanitarian work by continuing to empower civil society organisations and enhancing their role in delivering humanitarian and developmental initiatives. These efforts, he added, have contributed to reaching eligible beneficiaries, whether through direct support or sustainable development programmes.
The minister further emphasised that the Ministry has adopted a comprehensive strategy focused on strengthening community partnership, fostering innovation in humanitarian initiatives, and ensuring the efficient use of resources to guarantee lasting positive impact. He also highlighted ongoing efforts to develop the legal and regulatory frameworks that ensure governance and transparency in civil society work, in line with global best practices and development goals.
