ARCO Celebrates 50 Years of Humanitarian Service

   Riyadh, August 27, 2025, SPA -- The Arab Red Crescent and Red Cross Organization (ARCO) will celebrate its 50th anniversary tomorrow.
   Secretary-General of ARCO Abdullah Al-Muhaidli expressed his appreciation for Saudi Arabia’s continued support for the organization since its early days. He noted that this support began during the reign of King Faisal bin Abdulaziz, when Saudi Arabia hosted ARCO’s General Secretariat headquarters in 1975.
   He stated that ARCO continues to coordinate with its member national societies in support of humanitarian efforts, while it promotes initiatives to ensure the success of projects aligned with the principles of the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement.
   Over the past 50 years, ARCO has worked diligently to achieve its goals amid evolving humanitarian landscapes across the Arab region. As a result, ARCO’s role has grown significantly over the decades, especially in the face of recurring crises, armed conflicts, and natural disasters.
